RFM990-AUS32 Refractometer launched to meet ISO22241-2
Launched in order to meet the strictest of ISO procedures in relation to the manufacture of Diesel Exhaust Fluids such as AUS-32 and Adblue®, the RFM990-AUS32 offers the highest achievable accuracy and temperature control for any refractometer on the market today. In addition, the instrument is fitted with specific Urea scales and temperature compensation and benefits from all the features of the RFM900 series of instruments.

New CRM’s for high accuracy applications
In order to provide absolute confidence in the RFM990-AUS refractometer, a sucrose solution with an uncertainty (k=2) of 0.000011 at 20°C is now available on a contract supply basis.  For applications requiring a lesser uncertainty, the alternative BS-AUS fluid provides reliability and having a shelf life of 12-months, is available in 1-or 5 pack versions on a single supply format.  Both products feature in our new CRM section of this website

ADP440+ Polarimeter launched
The top-selling ADP440 polarimeter has been upgraded to include the new “blue-screen” display and now features RFID as well as other features common to the premier RFM900 refractometer series launched earlier this year. For details click here.

New “Calculator” for ABV (Alcohol by Volume)
A new calculator has been added to the Technical Centre of this website to allow input of the SG reading from the hydrometer and the R reading from Eclipse refractometer of our ABV Kit in order to calculate alcohol by volume to two-decimal places. A new instruction manual is also available featuring the two-decimal place ABV table.

New “Mobile Phone” optimised webs pages
Mobile phone specific web pages have been added to the website in order to provide rapid download at minimal transmission rates when accessing the site ‘on-the-move’.  Of particular interest is the inclusion of our RI/temperature and ABV calculators, giving users the ability to access critical calculations when away from their desk.

UKAS Laboratory – extension of accreditation
Following a three day Re-assessment Visit by UKAS in October, our Laboratory Accreditation under ISO17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories) for Testing and Calibration has been renewed.  Additionally, extensions have been granted as follows:
New ADP440 Remote Software for PC
Bellingham + Stanley has released new PC software to allow remote operation of the ADP440 Polarimeter. The software not only allows the user to configure measurement parameters but also provides a platform for Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), where measured readings may be simultaneously sent to a spreadsheet such as Excel. A kinetic experiment may also be configured, whereby a number of readings may be logged over a user adjustable measurement interval and specified duration.  An audit trail of measurement and calibration completes this free-to-download software; a significant asset for any user of the ADP440 polarimeter. ADS480 Saccharimeter offers NIR wavelength measurement
The new ADS480 Saccharimeter is a Near Infra Red (NIR) automatic polarimeter designed specifically for use in industrial labaoratories and Tare Houses in the Cane, Beet & Ethanol Industries. For details click here.

RFM990 Flowcell model launched
Specifically designed for flow applications, the RFM990 incorporates all the measurement and software features of the RFM970 and is factory fitted with a choice of newly modelled flowcells. A simple stand elevates the instrument to an angle of 10°, providing optimum performance over the wide measuring range. For details click here.

PRH-DEF32 for online measurement of Diesel Exhaust Fluids (DEF)
Ideally suited for production plants producing DEF, manufacturers will realise the importance of high accuracy refractive index measurement and specific temperature compensation applicable to the product. The PRH DEF-32 is pre-programmed with a choice of RI, %Urea or AUS-32 concentration scale with Urea temperature compensation covering the range 5-40°C; providing the most reliable process control measurement on the market. The refractometer has a simple 20mm product interface, with other formats being available.  Output signals include simple alarm relays, 4-20mA and RS485 for networking applications.

RFM300+ Series of Refractometers upgraded

Immediate withdrawal of Sodium Na10 bulb (code 59-31)
As of August 1, 2009, sodium bulb code 59-31 will no longer be available from Bellingham + Stanley. New & existing users wishing to measure at 589nm as part of a multiple wavelength experiment should now adopt the use of a Sodium Lamp Outfit. Download details here.

RFM900 Series of Refractometers replace the RFM800
Meeting the stringent needs of pharmaceutical, petrochemical and other industry sectors requiring a measurement range of up to 1.70RI, RFM900 series of Peltier temperature controlled refractometers offer additional features such as RFID, Kalrez® gasket and shallow sample dish with sapphire prism.  Integral software facilitates operation in a FDA regulated environment and a choice of on-screen language. RFM800 Series of Refractometers no longer available
Following the launch of the RFM900, its predecessor, the RFM800 series of instruments has been withdrawn from sale in its standalone format.  However, for a short period of time, the RFM800 will be available for flow through and funnel applications. For details click here.

Adblue® Testing Equipment added to Hand-held range
UPDATED JULY 2009
Meeting the needs of mechanics, drivers and fleet managers, two new hand held instruments have been launched by Bellingham + Stanley for testing Adblue® diesel exhaust fluid additives (DEF).  The E-line 40 ATC is robust dual scale refractometer allowing rapid measurement using the minimum of sample, whilst the Adblue® (DEF) hydrometer offers accurate results by way of density measurement. Low Cost Probable Alcohol (AP) E-line Refractometer for Wine

New High RI CRM Launched
Although outside of our UKAS accreditation, the new oil is available in single and 5 x 5ml packs with a refractive index value at 20°C and 589nm of 1.56107 ± 0.000074. The product is ideal for calibration of refractometers at the high end of the scale such as those used in the petrochemical, chemical, aroma and pharmaceutical industries.

New %ABV kit added to Eclipse range
A hydrometer specifically designed for use with our 45-22 ‘Zeiss’ Eclipse refractometer has been introduced to provide customers wishing to measure the alcohol content of finished wines, beers and ciders. The instrument set is also a useful tool for measuring the fermentation rate of champagne style wines that ferment in the bottle. A specific hydrometer jar is also available. For details click here.

Metal end caps available for jacketed polarimeter tubes
Jacketed tubes are supplied as standard with Polyacetyl end caps. Some applications, where the chemical under test is considered aggressive, dictate the need to use metal end caps, which are now available as optional extras. Diameter: 22.5mm. For details click here

Model D7 Optical Polarimeter with integral LED Light Source
Specifically designed with academic and low throughput laboratory applications in mind, the Model D7 is a high quality, relatively high accuracy optical polarimeter with a much lower price tag than its predecessor! Unlike most other low cost polarimeters, the instrument incorporates a fully enclosed etched glass scale providing excellent resolution on both the angular and sugar scales. The Model D7 uniquely incorporates a LED light source with intensity control, which not only reduces bench space but also overall shipping weight. Details can be found by clicking here.

RFM340 Refractometer no longer available
For over 15-years, leading manufacturers from around the Globe have adopted the RFM340 as their preferred choice of refractometer. Having launched the significantly successful replacement model in 2007, B+S reluctantly announce that the RFM340 and RFM311 refractometers are no longer available. Model D(2) Polarimeter with Sodium Lamp Outfit – no longer available
After almost half a Century of production, the classic Model D(2) optical polarimeter has been withdrawn from sale and has been replaced by the Model D7.
